Akagera National Park is the largest protected wetland and Rwanda’s only savannah destination in Central Africa. Having undergone an incredible conservation revival, it is now home to the Big Five; lions, rhinos, elephants, leopards, and buffaloes. Defined by a stunning complex of lakes, papyrus swamps, and rolling acacia woodlands, Akagera offers a diverse landscape that provides a beautiful contrast to Rwanda’s mountainous gorilla trekking regions.
